The film Back Then, directed by Kinga Dębska, was screened on the festival's opening night on 6 November.
Other films shown at this year’s festival will include Poland’s 2022 Oscar candidate, Leave No Traces, by Jan P. Matuszyński; Jan Holubek’s deeply moving drama 25 Years of Innocence; and award-winning animated feature Kill Me and Leave This Town by Mariusz Wilczynski.
The films will be screened in three major locations during the 18-day celebration of Polish cinema, which began on 6 November and runs until 23 November.
The two-week festival is the largest annual review of Polish movies outside Poland itself.
The 33rd Polish Film Festival in America has been co-financed by the Polish ministry of culture, Polish Film Institute and Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Chicago.
