Written and directed by Israel’s Asaf Saban, the film tells the story of Israeli high school teenagers on a trip to Poland to visit World War II-era death camps and Holocaust memorials.
The storyline focuses on the coming-of-age of three friends: Maya, Frisch and Roy, showing the yawning chasm between the great drama of history and the little dramas of life.
In addition to Łódź, the production team plans to work in the Polish capital Warsaw and the southern city of Kraków, as well as at the former Nazi German death camp of Treblinka, north-east of Warsaw.
The Delegation is Saban’s second feature film. His debut film Outdoors was released in Israel in 2017 and saw its star Noa Koler nominated for the Israeli Film Academy’s best actress award.
The cast of The Delegation includes Israeli actors Yoav Bavli, Naomi Harari and Lib Lev Levin in the main roles, and Polish actors Karolina Bruchnicka, Pascal Fisher and Lech Dyblik in supporting roles.
The cinematography is in the hands of Poland’s Bogumił Godfrejów.
