Michał Sobociński is the cinematographer behind Filip, a Michał Kwieciński film inspired by Leopold Tyrmand's autobiographical book of the same title.

Michał Sobociński comes from a family of well-known Polish cinematographers. He is the son of the late Piotr Sobociński, grandson of the late Witold Sobociński, and brother of cinematographer Piotr Sobociński Jr.

"This film was very demanding, and being the cinematographer for this film was a big challenge not only because it is a period piece—it is all set in Frankfurt in 1943—but also because we decided on very long takes that are actually orbiting around the main character, Eric," Michał Sobociński told Radio Poland's Danuta Isler. "That was the main idea behind it."

Filip won the Silver Lions award at the 47th Polish Film Festival in the Baltic city of Gdynia last fall.
