The motto of this year’s event is “Art Under Fire.”
The director of the festival, Nadiia Moroz-Olshanska, told public broadcaster Polish Radio: “Our intention is to show that art not only exists but also brings to light people’s inner experience and gives audiences the opportunity to have a moment of rest from the fire around them, the fire of war ...”
The featured companies hail from cities such as Kyiv, Kharkiv, Kherson and Dnipro.
Groups from Poland, Georgia, Latvia, Finland, Germany, Austria, Hungary and Armenia are also taking part.
All the performances, for both children and adults, as well as performative readings and exhibitions, explore the festival’s motto.
The festival, now in its 10th year, runs until April 24.
The previous nine editions attracted over 100 professional and amateur drama companies from Ukraine, Poland, Armenia and several other European countries.
