“This project is a perfect example of blending design with respect for the natural environment and history. The focus on smaller elements not only enhances the landscape but also encourages active use of the space,” explained the experts when awarding the winning trophy to the Polish lakefront development concept.
The project titled "In harmony with nature - The development of the waterfront of Lake Slupeckie in Poland" was recognized as the best in the world in the Landscape Design/Parks & Public Spaces, Educational, Community & Recreation Facilities category.
According to the DNA Paris Design Awards 2024 website, the waterfront development includes circular piers, a picnic platform, and a viewing pier, all designed to integrate seamlessly with the natural landscape of the lake.
The circular design elements are inspired by the island-ring visible from the lake's shore, a remnant of a settlement from the Lusatian culture period (750 - 400 BC).
Lake Słupeckie is an artificial reservoir located near the town of Słupca, about 70 kilometers east of Poznań in west-central Poland. The lake is a popular spot for recreational activities such as fishing, swimming, and boating.
The international recognition for this Polish project was announced by regional authorities via the local news outlet Twoja Słupca.
