This celebration of world music is starting in Warsaw, making it one of the most significant events of its type in Poland and this region of Europe. The festival will commence at 7:00 PM with a performance by Korean artist Duk-soo Kim and his group, Ensemble Sinawi.

According to Anna Wojtkowiak, Deputy Director of Stołeczna Estrada, Kim is a prominent figure in traditional Korean performance arts and has introduced innovative techniques for playing the janggu, a double-headed drum.

She also notes that the evening's second performance will be by Elida Almeida from Cape Verde, who was discovered by José da Silva, the producer known for his work with the legendary Cesária Évora.

The next day's lineup at the Dramatyczny Theatre includes the band Suonno d’Ajere from Naples and Angolan star Bonga Kwenda.

On Sunday, the festival's finale will feature Cheikh Lô from Burkina Faso and the all-female collective Lemma from Algeria.

In addition to the performances, the Cross Culture Festival offers workshops and discussions on various global arts and traditions.

The schedule includes workshops with Turkish dervishes, ikebana, and talks on travel and K-pop.

Polish Radio Channel 1 is the festival’s media partner.
