The film, styled after the Indiana Jones franchise, showcases the Polish city’s rich history and iconic landmarks, significantly boosting its tourism sector, according to reports.

The plot centers on Piotr Włostowic, a wealthy nobleman from the 12th century, who, according to legend, was buried with his vast treasures in Wrocław's Ołbin Abbey. The abbey was dismantled in the 16th century, and its more valuable elements were hidden across the city to protect them from invaders. The video suggests that the search for Włostowic's riches has continued for centuries, attracting the attention of figures from Turks to Nazis and Soviets.

The film blends high-energy action scenes with sweeping shots of Wrocław’s iconic landmarks, such as the Centennial Hall, the picturesque market square, and the underwater tunnels at Wrocław Zoo. Directed in a cinematic style, the video features Polish actors Marianna Zydek and Piotr Nerlewski as adventurers in pursuit of Włostowic's treasure, while veteran actor Daniel Olbrychski plays the villain, chasing them in dramatic scenes including a boat pursuit and a tense showdown in a candlelit cellar.

Widespread praise for Wrocław: City of Adventure

In addition to the Cannes accolade, the video won gold at Spain’s Terres Film Festival and silver at the US International Awards. The video, available in multiple languages including English, German, Czech, and Spanish, has significantly boosted the city's global visibility.

Wrocław’s success in promoting itself through this creative project coincides with a notable surge in tourism. The city experienced a 7% increase in visitors in 2023, with record attendance at attractions such as the zoo, which drew 1.7 million visitors, and the Aquapark, which hosted 2 million guests. The city’s airport also saw 3.9 million passengers, while the popular Christmas Market attracted 115,000 tourists, contributing to Wrocław's banner year for tourism.
