Arthur Rubinstein in Memoriam - winners of the international contest revealed

One of the world's most prestigious music competitions for young pianists under 22 years old has concluded in Bydgoszcz, north-central Poland.

The final gala of the 13th "Arthur Rubinstein in Memoriam" International Competition for Young Pianists took place at the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Philharmonic in Bydgoszcz.

Zhuoqing Du, a student at the State Music School named after Arthur Rubinstein in Bydgoszcz, was awarded the top prize.

Second prize went to Gabriel Bortnowski, a student at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice, while the third prize was awarded to Maciej Domagała from the State Music School I and II degree named after Karol Kurpiński in Kutno.

Honorable mentions were given to Antoni Kłeczek, Yehuda Prokopowicz, and Zuzanna Krystian-Browalska, representing various music schools in Poland and abroad.

The jury noted the high level of music education in Poland and the diversity of talent among young musicians.

Artur Rubinstein, in whose memory this competition for young instrumentalists is held, was a celebrated Polish-American pianist known for his exceptional interpretations of classical works, particularly those by Chopin.

Born in Łódź, Poland, in 1887, he became one of the most influential pianists of the 20th century and maintained a strong connection to his Polish roots throughout his life.
