Her book titled "Empusion", translated by Karol Lesman, was honored as the best contemporary European novel published in Dutch translation in the previous year.
Both the author and the translator of the winning novel are recognized, with each receiving €10,000 in prize money.
The award ceremony is part of the Crossing Borderfestival, one of the oldest and most prestigious international music and literature festivals in Europe.
Tokarczuk won the 2018 Nobel Prize for Literature for "a narrative imagination that with encyclopedic passion represents the crossing of boundaries as a form of life."
She also won the International Booker Prize in 2018, for her book "Flights," translated by Jennifer Croft.
Tokarczuk’s other works include "Primeval and Other Times", and "Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead".
