The film was praised as “an extraordinary directorial debut probing into the horror of injustice.”
25 Years of Innocence. The Case of Tomek Komenda is based on the tragic story of a man who was charged with murder and thrown into prison, with all the evidence against him. He was 23 years old at the time. He served 18 years in prison before he was found not guilty.
The film brought Holoubek the Best Debut award at last month’s Camerimage International Festival in Toruń, northern Poland, as well as a host of awards at this year’s national festival of debut films.
