The 98-minute film offers a backstage look at the International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw.
It is described by its producers as “an intimate portrait of the young musicians” taking part in the event.

Established in 1927, the International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw is among the world’s most prestigious events of its kind. Its next, 19th, edition is scheduled for 2025.
Past winners of the event include pianists such as Adam Harasiewicz, Maurizio Pollini, Martha Argerich, Garrick Ohlsson, Krystian Zimerman, Rafał Blechacz, Yulianna Avdeyeva, Cho Seong-jin and Bruce Liu.
Born in 1985, Piątek graduated from the Polish National Film School in Łódź. Before studying directing, he worked as a journalist and culture manager.
In 2021, his feature fiction debut Prime Time premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, and it is available on Netflix in all regions.
In 2021, he started teaching fiction directing at the Łódź Film School.
The Sundance Film Festival is the largest annual independent film festival in the United States. It has been held in Park City, Salt Lake City, and the Sundance Mountain Resort in Utah since 1978. Its next edition will take place from January 19 to 29.
Pianoforte will have its Polish premiere at the Millennium Docs Against Gravity Festival in May.
