The Polish side's Kosovan winger Lirim Kastrati scored the only goal of the match, off a cross from Albanian forward Ernest Muci, in the first minute of stoppage time at Otkritie Arena in Moscow on Wednesday night.

Legia have been drawn to play Italian side Napoli and England's Leicester City, besides Russia's Spartak, in the group stage of the 2021/2022 Europa League.

The Polish champions reached the Europa League after a 2-1 qualifying win over Czech side Slavia Prague in late August.

Earlier last month, the Polish top-flight club saw its hopes of qualifying for the Champions League group stage crushed by Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb.

The final of this season's UEFA Europa League will take place in Seville, Spain on May 18, 2022.
