Deputy Family and Social Policy Minister Stanisław Szwed said foreign workers had a positive effect on the Polish labour market.
"They pay social security contributions and taxes, which means they work legally," Szwed told public broadcaster Polish Radio.
In addition to Ukrainians, Poland attracts many workers from Asian countries such as India, Pakistan and the Philippines, Polish Radio's IAR news agency reported, citing government data.
Poland’s unemployment rate held steady at 4.9 percent in July, unchanged from June and marking the lowest level in 32 years, according to a government estimate released earlier this month.
