To compare, Belgium has 897 deaths per million residents since the start of the pandemic, according to new data released by the Polish health ministry on Tuesday, while Spain has 727 and Britain reports 643.
The list of countries severely hit by the coronavirus also includes Italy, with 606 deaths per million population, Sweden with 585, and France with 515, according to the Polish health ministry.
Croatia, the newest European Union member, has a slightly lower proportion of coronavirus deaths than Poland, at 91 per million residents, while Greece has 50 and Poland's northeastern neighbor Lithuania reports 42, the new data found.
Poland on Tuesday reported 9,291 new coronavirus infections and 107 more deaths, bringing its total number of cases to 192,539 and fatalities to 3,721.
The country in early June reported a coronavirus death rate of 31 per million population.
Poland last week ranked 18th among 31 European countries in terms of the number of new coronavirus cases per 100,000 residents, according to a report by state news agency PAP.
