EBRD expects Polish GDP to grow 5% this year, 4.8% in 2022

As the coronavirus crisis recedes, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has said it expects the Polish economy to grow by 5 percent this year and then expand by 4.8 percent in 2022.

“We have raised our forecasts for Poland," the bank's chief economist, Beata Javorcik, announced on Monday.

"We now project that Poland's GDP will grow 5 percent in 2021 and 4.8 percent next year," she told private Radio TOK FM.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is an international financial institution that supports projects in more than 30 countries.

Meanwhile, international ratings agency S&P Global last month upgraded its forecast for Poland's GDP growth this year to 4.5 percent, from a previous projection of 3.4 percent.

The agency also revised upward its projection for Polish economic growth in 2022 to 5.4 percent from the 4.4 percent it forecast earlier, Poland’s PAP news agency has reported.

The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in May predicted that the Polish economy would expand by 3.7 percent in 2021 and 4.7 percent in 2022.
