Indian yoga guru promotes world peace in Poland: audio report

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, an Indian peace negotiator and a leading teacher of yoga and meditation, visited Poland over the weekend to promote a new campaign.

During his stay, the founder of the Art of Living Foundation met with Ukrainian refugees at the Taraska Center for Health Promotion in the Sulejów Landscape Park in central Poland and led a "Meditation for Peace" event at Warsaw's Torwar Arena on Sunday evening.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has over the years contributed to several peace initiatives across the world in conflict zones such as Colombia, Venezuela, northern India and Iraq.

His Polish visit was part of a new campaign called #IStandForPeace.

"In recent decades we have seen that 20 years of war in Afghanistan has not led anywhere; we have seen the war in Iraq where millions have lost their lives; and we have seen all over the world that conflicts cannot be resolved with violence," he told Radio Poland's Danuta Isler.

"Dialogue and dialogue is the only way," he added, explaining why inner peace achieved through yoga, breathing techniques and meditation can lead to peace at the societal and global levels.
