The idea behind Polish Heritage Days is to promote and celebrate Polish culture, the heritage of past generations, and the Polish people's contribution to British culture, economy and society.
The event will run throughout May across the United Kingdom, and its start coincides with the Day of Poles Abroad and Flag Day in Poland on May 2 as well as Poland's Constitution Day on May 3.
This year’s edition focuses on celebrating the contribution of Polish World War II-era generals Władysław Anders, Stanisław Maczek and Stanisław Sosabowski to the legacy and history of Poles in Britain.
"Polish Heritage Days mean that many Polish and British organisations hold events dedicated to Polish culture, Polish history as well as the future of Poland," Poland's former ambassador to the UK, Arkady Rzegocki, told Danuta Isler.
"I am very proud that so many Poles living abroad, so many friends of Poland did a lot to promote knowledge about Poland, close cooperation between Poland and Britain, and I am very proud that the knowledge of Polish history, Polish-British links and Polish culture is more important than ever in the United Kingdom nowadays," he said.
