While it is encouraging to see more women in Poland venturing into traditionally male-dominated fields, the country still falls behind its Western European counterparts in terms of gender parity.
According to the Gender Equality Index, Poland is "below the European average as far as work is concerned," Monika Płatek, a law professor at the University of Warsaw, said in an interview with Radio Poland's Agnieszka Łaszczuk.
"Women in Poland are the ones that have the least time for themselves," Płatek added.
Meanwhile, critics say recent policies by Poland's ruling conservatives have limited women's reproductive rights, resulting in a near-total ban on abortion.
