Eighty solar farms with a combined capacity of 0.77 GW and 1,417 small installations with a total capacity of 1.1 GW were connected to the grid.

Most of the installed capacity was in solar farms above 30 MW (873 MW), according to the Photovoltaics Market in Poland 2024 report by the Institute of Renewable Energy in Warsaw.

"We achieved good results compared to other countries," Grzegorz Wiśniewski, director of the Institute of Renewable Energy in Warsaw, told Radio Poland's Danuta Isler.

"In Europe, we are in sixth place in terms of the total capacity installed and in fourth position when it comes to yearly growth in 2023," he added.

The report also shows that solar is currently the number one renewable energy source in the country, followed by wind power with 9.4 GW, biomass with 982 MW, hydropower with 979 MW, and biogas with 294 MW.
