Volodymyr Zelensky was awarded in recognition of his leadership of war-torn Ukraine, news outlets reported.
During a gala evening in Karpacz, Ukraine’s ambassador to Poland, Vasyl Zvarych, received the accolade on behalf of the Ukrainian president.
In his speech in honour of Zelensky, Poland’s Deputy Sejm (lower house) Speaker Ryszard Terlecki said that the Ukrainian head of state had “attracted the admiration of the entire world” in leading his country’s defiant resistance against the Russian invasion.
“You became the most famous politician in the world,” Terlecki added.
"We all hope that this award from the Economic Forum will be the beginning of an enormous acclaim for you, Mr President, in the coming months and years," the Polish lawmaker said.
The Economic Forum in Karpacz, regarded as the biggest business and political conference in Eastern Europe, and dubbed “the Polish Davos,” concludes on Thursday.
Thursday is day 197 of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
