The B9 leaders were meeting in the Polish capital to discuss Russia's war in Ukraine and preparations for the Western military alliance's upcoming summit in Vilnius, Lithuania, according to Marcin Przydacza senior aide to Polish President Andrzej Duda.

The B9 meeting, attended by Biden, was expected to adopt a joint declaration.

The gathering was taking place on the second day of the US president’s visit to Poland.

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg was also taking part.

The Bucharest Nine is a Polish-Romanian initiative launched in 2015 that aims to help exchange views and coordinate positions on the security of NATO’s eastern-flank countries, according to officials.

The Bucharest Nine (B9) group of NATO's eastern-flank allies is made up of Poland, Romania, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Estonia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Latvia, and Slovakia.

In a major speech in Warsaw on Tuesday, Biden said that America and its allies "will not tire" of supporting Ukraine and that "Ukraine will never be a victory for Russia."

Wednesday is day 364 of Russia’s war in Ukraine.
