Russian military death toll in Ukraine rises to 232,300: report

Around 232,300 Russian troops have been killed in Ukraine since Vladimir Putin invaded the country in February last year, according to Ukrainian military authorities.

The Russians have also lost 4,068 tanks, 7,932 armored combat vehicles and 4,310 artillery systems during their military campaign in Ukraine, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said on Thursday, as cited by state news agency Ukrinform.

On Wednesday alone, Ukrainian forces killed 600 Russian soldiers, according to the ukrinform.net website.

Other Russian losses in Ukraine include 657 multiple launch rocket systems, 404 air defense systems, 315 warplanes, 309 helicopters, 18 warships, and 3,635 unmanned aerial vehicles, ukrinform.net reported.

A top British military official said this week that "Russia has lost nearly half the combat effectiveness of its army" since invading Ukraine in February last year.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, launching the largest military campaign in Europe since World War II.

Thursday is day 498 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
