The talks highlighted the importance of European unity and the need for a robust response to ensure the security of the continent and its allies, with a particular focus on supporting Ukraine amid Russian aggression, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

Tusk emphasized the lessons learned from history, including World War II and recent events, urging for a concerted effort to strengthen Europe's military capabilities and self-sufficiency in areas such as defense, energy, and food security.

He stressed the necessity of Europe becoming a significant military power, highlighting the economic and demographic advantages the EU holds over Russia.

Scholz echoed the sentiment of shared responsibility for Poland's security, underlining the deep historical ties and current partnership between Poland and Germany. He acknowledged Germany's past atrocities during World War II and stressed the importance of working towards peace and stability in Europe, including revitalizing the Weimar Triangle to give a new impetus to the European Union, with an aim to expand the EU and strengthen its capacity for action.

Both leaders addressed the recent package of EU assistance for Ukraine, amounting to EUR 50 billion by 2027, as a signal of commitment to supporting Ukraine and a message to the United States to follow suit.

They also discussed the need to balance agricultural interests within the EU with support for Ukraine, indicating a search for solutions that respect both the environmental goals of the Green Deal and the economic interests of European farmers.

The talks between Tusk and Scholz emphasized a united front in facing the challenges posed by Russia, emphasizing the need for European solidarity and the strengthening of the continent's defense and economic resilience.

The leaders' commitment to supporting Ukraine, enhancing military capabilities, and addressing economic and environmental concerns marks a significant step towards a more secure and integrated Europe, according to officials.

The Polish prime minister emphasized that the talks were about "the most crucial need, which is the security of our homelands, all of Europe, and the security of our allies and neighbors."
