The drills involve units from the operational command, special operations forces, rocket troops and artillery, aviation, and air defense, according to reports.
The Belarusian defense ministry announced that the exercise scenario includes units occupying designated regions, preparing their positions with engineering support, and organizing their defense. Following these preparations, the troops will engage in combat exercises, officials said.
Training grounds in the Brest and Gomel regions will also be used, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.
The civil administration of the border zone has been alerted to the movement of military equipment along the roads.
On Thursday, the State Border Committee of Belarus reported an enhanced protection of the border with Ukraine. It said this response comes in reaction to an increase in Ukrainian troop presence in the Zhytomyr region, including special forces equipped with German and American-made equipment.
