Russian attack on Ukraine's Lviv: Dozens injured, children among the dead

Seven people, including three children, were killed and many other civilians injured in a Russian strike on the western Ukrainian city of Lviv overnight into Wednesday, regional officials said.

Russian forces also targeted other regions of Ukraine, including Kyiv and Kryvyi Rih, where five people were injured, and ten multi-story residential buildings and a civil infrastructure facility in the city center were damaged, reported Olexandr Vilkul, head of Kryvyi Rih’s defense council.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported on X.com that five people had been killed in Lviv, including a 14-year-old girl. However, the latest information confirms the death toll has risen to seven, with children aged nine and fourteen among the victims.

Nexta states that the number of people injured in the morning attack in Lviv has increased to 47.

Ukrainian Air Force reported that Lviv was hit by two groups of cruise missiles, and a MiG-31K took off from the Sawaslejka airfield in Russia's Nizhny Novgorod region. The Russians used 13 missiles and 29 drones, with seven missiles and 22 drones being intercepted.

According to Euromaidan Press, the Russian missile attack on Lviv killed 21-year-old Yaryna Bazylevych, a program manager at Lviv - European Youth Capital 2025 and co-initiator of the Tvory (Create) network.

In the early hours of Wednesday, Polish forces scrambled their fighter jets along the eastern border in response to the Russian attacks on Ukraine. By around 8 AM, after the threat level decreased, the operation was concluded, but Polish forces continue to monitor the situation and maintain full readiness.
