Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has shared on social media that he had an "excellent" phone call with Trump.
Zelensky congratulated Trump on his "historic landslide victory," highlighting the effectiveness of the Republican's campaign and praising his family and team for their efforts.
'Peace through strength'
The two agreed to maintain a strong and ongoing dialogue, emphasizing the importance of deepening cooperation between their countries.
Zelensky stressed that strong and unwavering US leadership is crucial for global stability and achieving a just peace.
In a previously shared video, Zelensky highlighted the significance of Trump's principle of "peace through strength," which has been vital for both Ukraine and Europe.
He said that when this approach becomes Trump's policy as the next US president, it will benefit both the United States and the world.
Zelensky also said that frequent references to former US president Ronald Reagan today reflect people's desire for confidence, freedom and a normal life—free from Russian aggression, with a strong America, Ukraine and allies.
US to deliver $6 bn aid package to Ukraine before Trump inauguration
According to Politico, the White House plans to deliver a substantial USD 6 billion aid package to Ukraine before Trump's inauguration.
However, arms and ammunition shipments to Ukraine typically take months, so it is possible that not all of the new support package will reach the front lines before the new administration takes office.
