Explosions were reported in Kyiv, where parts of the city experienced power outages as a precautionary measure. The Ukrainian Air Force confirmed that Russian strategic bombers, Tu-95MS, had launched missiles overnight.
According to Reuters, the blasts in Kyiv may have been caused by Ukrainian air defenses intercepting Russian attacks. Power supply was preemptively cut in some areas of the city to mitigate risks.
Overnight assault
Throughout the night, Ukrainian air defenses worked to counter Russia’s intensive drone assault, with warnings issued across several regions. By 6 a.m., Ukrainian forces reported that they had successfully repelled the offensive.

Record numbers in recent attack
In an unprecedented assault, Russia deployed a record 145 drones toward Ukraine, of which Ukrainian air defenses managed to shoot down 62, while 67 lost contact.
According to the Ukrainian military, Russian forces attacked using two Kh-59/69 guided missiles launched from occupied Zaporizhzhia, along with 74 Shahed drones and unidentified drones originating from areas near Kursk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Oryol, and Bryansk within Russia.
