In a statement on X, Defence Secretary John Healey urged international allies to unite in their support for Kyiv, emphasizing the need to prevent Vladimir Putin from succeeding in his ongoing invasion of Ukraine.
Healey noted that as Ukraine braces for a harsh winter and potential Russian offensives, unified international backing is crucial. Since the start of the conflict, the UK has trained over 50,000 Ukrainian soldiers and supplied a range of military equipment, including drones and essential weaponry.
Financial assistance and training programs
The UK Parliament will soon debate the Financial Assistance to Ukraine Bill, which secures a GBP 2.26 billion loan for Kyiv to acquire additional military equipment.
On the ground, Armed Forces Minister Luke Pollard visited Operation Interflex, a training initiative in eastern England, to meet with UK and allied troops. Pollard praised the program, which is supported by instructors from 12 partner nations, as a critical effort in bolstering Ukraine’s security—and by extension, the security of Europe and the UK.
