Geolocated footage published on December 20 and 21 indicates that Russian forces have advanced toward the southeastern outskirts of the village of Dar’ino and the northern outskirts of Kruglenkoe, the ISW said.
Russian military bloggers cited by the think-tank reported that Ukrainian forces launched counterattacks at several points along the front, and that Ukraine continues to carry out long-range strikes on military targets in western Russia’s Kursk Oblast.
The ISW also reiterated claims by Ukrainian sources that North Korean troops may be participating in the fighting in this area.
On Friday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy suggested that Russian military commanders are attempting to conceal the presence of North Korean soldiers in Kursk by portraying them as members of various indigenous ethnic groups from Siberia and Russia’s Far East.
