"We currently have over a thousand applications under review by the relevant commission," Vasyl Bodnar said, as cited by Ukrainian state news agency Ukrinform.
"We hope that this number will continue to grow," he added.
In a recent media interview, Bodnar described the formation of a Ukrainian unit in Poland as a vital aspect of bilateral cooperation and a fulfillment of high-level agreements, Ukrinform reported.
He noted that Poland is providing support for basic military training, equipment and field exercises.
Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz recently announced that Poland was ready to begin training this Ukrainian unit, according to the report.
Poland, one of Ukraine's closest allies in countering Russian aggression, has delivered 45 military aid packages to Ukraine worth more than EUR 4 billion, Ukrinform said.
It noted that a logistics hub in Poland facilitates the delivery of military and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine.
More than 20,000 Ukrainian servicemen have received training at Polish military facilities, according to Ukrinform.
