The US delegation for the talks includes Secretary of State Marco Rubio, White House national security adviser Mike Waltz and Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
On the Russian side, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and presidential adviser Yuri Ushakov will attend the talks, according to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
The meeting could pave the way for a summit between US President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin as the two sides discuss restoring bilateral relations.
The talks come after Trump had a phone call with Putin last week, according to reports.
"This is a follow-up on that initial conversation between Putin and President Trump about perhaps if that first step is even possible, what the interests are, if this can be managed," State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce told reporters in Riyadh, as cited by the Reuters news agency.
Rubio said on Sunday that the coming days and weeks would determine whether Putin is serious about making peace in Ukraine, Reuters reported.
Meanwhile, European leaders gathered in Paris on Monday for an emergency summit to agree on a unified strategy. They said after the summit that they would invest more in defence and take the lead in providing security guarantees for Ukraine, according to Reuters.
"Everyone sees that transatlantic relations have entered a new phase," Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk told reporters.
"We all recognise that the time has come to build Europe's self-defence capabilities and significantly increase defence spending," he said.
Tusk declared that "European countries strongly support a lasting peace in Ukraine." He cautioned that "a ceasefire alone won’t bring stability and security.”
Keith Kellogg, Trump's envoy for Ukraine and Russia, is expected to visit Kyiv this week, following talks with Polish President Andrzej Duda in Warsaw on Tuesday.
Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, starting the largest armed conflict in Europe since World War II.
Tuesday marks the 1,090th day of the war.
