The support was committed by a group of 26 countries at an international donor conference for Ukraine in the Danish capital Copenhagen on Thursday and will be used to supply weapons, missiles and ammunition for Ukraine, train Ukrainian soldiers, and demine war-torn areas in the country, the Reuters news agency reported.
"We will continue to assist Ukraine in its military needs," Bodskov told journalists at the end of the Copenhagen Conference for Northern European Defence Allies, which sought to coordinate long-term security assistance to Ukraine, according to officials.
The defence ministers of Poland, Slovakia and the Czech Republic signaled willingness to expand production of artillery systems, munitions and other military equipment for Ukraine, Bodskov said, as cited by Reuters.
Polish Defence Minister Mariusz Błaszczak said on Thursday that the West must stay alert over Russia and that Poland should keep reminding other countries about the dangers posed by Moscow's policies.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Wednesday called for a further increase in Western military aid to his country to help it defeat Russia's invasion, saying that "the more losses the occupiers suffer, the sooner we will be able to liberate our land and guarantee Ukraine's security."
