Polish Radio for Ukraine will offer the extra two hours of programming from Saturday, September 17, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
Programmes between 9 am and 9 pm
To date, broadcasts have been aired between 11 am and 9 pm, now they will start as early as 9 am, continuing until 9 pm.
Polish Radio for Ukraine’s programmes are created and presented by journalists from the Ukrainian Section of Polish Radio’s External Service, also known as Radio Poland.
Launched in the wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the station broadcasts from its studios in Warsaw both to Poland and Ukraine.
Availability of Polish Radio for Ukraine
In Poland, Polish Radio for Ukraine is available in DAB+ technology, on FM frequencies in Przemyśl (98,6 FM), Hrubieszów (93,3 MHz), Łódź (94,40 FM), Wrocław (100,70 FM), Białystok (94,80 FM) and the capital Warsaw (100,6 FM).
Meanwhile, the station is also available on VHF frequencies in Ukraine, thanks to its transmitters in the capital Kyiv and the eastern Luhansk and Donetsk regions.
Moreover, Polish Radio for Ukraine can also be heard through the public broadcaster’s web player, mobile app and the moje.polskieradio.pl website, the PAP news agency reported.
Programming
Catering to the needs of refugees from Ukraine and Poland’s Ukrainian community, Polish Radio for Ukraine offers news, commentary and music content.
Listeners are kept up to date with events in Ukraine, including the situation in Russian-occupied territories. The station also provides information and advice to refugees from the war-torn country, including on how to settle administrative matters and obtain assistance in Poland.
Response from listeners
“The Polish Radio for Ukraine project has been a success for Polish public radio broadcasting,” said Andrzej Rybałt, director of Radio Poland.
He added: “We have reached refugees from Ukraine with credible information, as well as with programmes on social, economic and cultural issues. The scale of the positive response from listeners has taken us by surprise.”
Polish Radio’s programmes for Ukraine have also earned appreciation from Ukraine’s media regulator and the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, executives said, as cited by the PAP news agency.
Friday is day 205 of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
