Russian military death toll in Ukraine rises to 271,440: report

Around 271,440 Russian troops have been killed in Ukraine since Vladimir Putin invaded the country in February last year, according to Ukrainian military authorities.

The Russians have also lost 4,612 tanks, 8,814 armored fighting vehicles and 5,972 artillery systems during their military campaign in Ukraine, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said on Friday, as cited by state news agency Ukrinform.

On Thursday alone, Ukrainian forces killed 470 Russian soldiers, according to the ukrinform.net website.

Other Russian losses in Ukraine include 774 multiple launch rocket systems, 521 air defense systems, 315 warplanes, 316 helicopters, 20 warships, and 4,714 unmanned aerial vehicles, ukrinform.net reported.

A top British military official said this summer that "Russia has lost nearly half the combat effectiveness of its army" since invading Ukraine in February last year.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, launching the largest military campaign in Europe since World War II.

Friday is day 569 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
