The Polish foreign ministry said in a statement that the two "welcomed the very good state of bilateral relations and cooperation between the countries, particularly in terms of security, defence, and energy."
It also said Sikorski thanked Joly "for Canada's involvement and actions to strengthen the eastern NATO flank, as well as for the cooperation of both countries' soldiers within a task force stationed in Ādaži, Latvia."
Other topics on the agenda included "the situation in Ukraine, its possible developments in 2024, including in the context of allocating the frozen Russian assets to support and rebuild Ukraine, as well as the issue of Russia being held responsible for international crimes committed against Ukraine," according to the Polish foreign ministry.
"Close attention was paid to the two countries' involvement in the support for the Belarusian democratic circles and civil society, together with ways of stepping up the sanction-based pressure on Lukashenko's regime," the statement added.
While in Warsaw on Wednesday, Joly also met with Poland's lower-house Speaker Szymon Hołownia.
Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, starting the largest armed conflict in Europe since World War II.
Thursday is day 708 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
