President Andrzej Duda will hold talks with Jens Stoltenberg at NATO's Brussels headquarters after returning to Europe from a visit to the United States, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.
During a meeting with US President Joe Biden at the White House on Tuesday, Duda said that NATO allies should consider increasing their defence spending from 2 percent of GDP to 3 percent "in response to the full–scale war, launched by Russia right beyond NATO’s eastern border."
Duda told Biden: "Russia's aggression against Ukraine clearly demonstrated that the United States is and should remain the security leader. But other Allies must take more responsibility for the security of the Alliance as a whole."
Ahead of his trip to Washington, Duda said he would embark on a diplomatic offensive to persuade fellow alliance members to boost defence spending to 3 percent of GDP in response to Russia's ongoing war against Ukraine.
Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, starting the largest armed conflict in Europe since World War II.
