"On the night of April 16, 2024, the enemy attacked with 9 Shahed-131/136 strike UAVs from Cape Chauda (Crimea)," the Ukrainian air force said on Tuesday morning.
It added that "all nine Shahed UAVs were destroyed by mobile firing groups of the Air Force and the Defense Forces within the Kherson, Mykolaiv, Khmelnytskyi, Poltava, Cherkasy, and Dnipropetrovsk regions” in eastern and southern Ukraine, state news agency Ukrinform reported.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said on Tuesday that "Russian forces launched 16 missile attacks, 31 air strikes and 79 MLRS [multiple launch rocket system] attacks on the positions of Ukrainian forces and Ukrainian cities and villages."
It added that Ukrainian troops continued to "inflict losses on the occupation forces and their equipment, depleting the enemy along the entire frontline."
Over the past day, the Ukrainian Air Force "struck 13 enemy manpower clusters, two anti-aircraft missile systems, and one enemy control post," according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"Ukrainian missile troops struck two Russian artillery units, four manpower clusters, and four UAV ground control stations," it said.
Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, starting the largest armed conflict in Europe since World War II.
Tuesday is day 783 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
