The UK will provide over £600 million in support for Ukrainians defending themselves against Putin's illegal invasion, announced British Foreign Secretary David Lammy during his visit to Kyiv.

This includes £242 million for humanitarian aid and investments in reconstruction and energy infrastructure for 2024-2025.

Additionally, $484 million will be allocated in the form of credit guarantees through the World Bank, helping maintain essential public services like schools and hospitals.

UK and US commit funds for Ukraine's aid and reconstruction

The United States has also committed funds for humanitarian aid and the rebuilding of infrastructure destroyed by Russian attacks, as announced during the first joint meeting of the US, UK, and Ukrainian foreign ministers.

Antony Blinken revealed nearly $290 million in additional humanitarian assistance, stating, "We continue to support Ukrainians whose lives have been shattered by this war and encourage additional donors to address the urgent humanitarian needs in Ukraine and the region."

However, Ukrainians did not hear what they most wanted from Antony Blinken and David Lammy: permission to use Western long-range weapons for strikes on targets within Russia.

Requests for long-Range weapons to strike Russia denied

Blinken acknowledged that Ukrainian officials had requested the use of Western long-range weapons against Russian targets. He promised to present these requests to President Biden upon his return to Washington.

In late August, Ukraine provided Americans with a list of potential military targets in Russia that could aid the Ukrainian offensive and hinder Russian bombardments of civilians.

Intense fighting continues on the front lines, including the Russian attack toward Pokrovsk and a likely counteroffensive in the Kursk region.
