Pro-Russian military analyst Roman Alyokhin, an advisor to the regional governor, wrote on his Telegram channel, "Kursk was subjected to a massive attack by foreign-made rockets overnight."
Meanwhile, Ukrainian air defense systems repelled another Russian drone attack over Kyiv during the night, Reuters reported.
"Air defense is active. Kyiv is once again under attack by enemy drones," Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko wrote on Telegram.
According to Ukraine's military administration, air defense forces shot down 50 out of 73 Russian drones launched at various targets.
Russia has been systematically attacking Ukraine's critical infrastructure in recent weeks, especially power grids and energy facilities, raising concerns of a humanitarian crisis as winter approaches.
