The role of Polish Radio Centre for Folk Culture, established in 1994, is to protect, promote, and document traditional culture as well as popularize new emerging cultural phenomena.
Our Centre deals with folk culture in various ways: from promoting it on all Polish Radio stations and international radio stations associated in the European Broadcasting Union, through documenting the still existing traditions, to organizing events, concerts, and festivals (Polish Radio Folk Festival ‘Nowa Tradycja’), along with publishing the ‘Muzyka Źródeł’ album series.
The main tasks of Polish Radio Centre for Folk Culture are: to inform about local, national, and international folk events, to explain the importance of this particular aspect of national culture, to familiarize with its new aspects, to change the stereotypes in thinking about tradition, and to show the strength and values that integrate people and are found in our roots.
