The blaze, which erupted on Oliwska Street in Gdańsk's Nowy Port district, spread to cover 6,500 square meters of area and posed significant risks due to the storage of plastics, textiles and hydrocarbons, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

Around 100 firefighters and marine service workers managed to save adjacent structures. No injuries were reported.

In response to the fire, authorities closed the city's Brzeźno Molo and Brzeźno Hallera beaches, advising residents to avoid these areas due to possible water contamination.

The closures and swimming bans will remain in effect until further notice.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by police and fire experts.
