Europe needs its own plan for Ukraine and for its own security or its future will be decided by other powers, the Polish Prime Minister said on Saturday.

"Europe urgently needs its own plan of action concerning Ukraine and our security, or else other global players will decide about our future. Not necessarily in line with our own interest," Donald Tusk wrote on social media platform X.

"This plan must be prepared now. There's no time to lose”, he urged.

Tusk’s post clearly referenced the Munich Security Conference where negotiations between the U.S. and Ukraine are underway regarding a peace settlement.

At the same time, the U.S. is also holding bilateral talks with Russia on Ukraine in light of the recent Trump-Putin conversation that has reverberated worldwide.

Tusk's statements echoed those of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who on Saturday called on Europe "to act for its own good" and to have "its own armed forces" to defend itself against Russia.

On Friday, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski noted that the Munich Security Conference is unfolding against the backdrop of dramatic events in both the Middle East and between the U.S. and Russia, suggesting that the transatlantic agenda covers not only Ukraine's future but also a reconfiguration of NATO.
