2025 Presidential Elections: Who is more credible on national security?

10.11.2024 19:20
Even before Radosław Sikorski officially threw his hat in the ring as a candidate for the KO presidential primaries a poll had appeared testing how much added value his long years in the foreign and defence ministries has for the Polish electorate. The result is somewhat surprising.

The new poll, by SW Research for rp.pl, asked which of the two Civic Coalition (KO) candidates would be a safer pair of hands for Polish national security.

  • 29.3% of respondents said that Rafał Sikorski would handle national security better
  • 25.9% said that Radosław Sikorski would be better
  • 19.3% said they would be as good as each other
  • 25.5% said they had no opinion

The results are surprising in view of Radosław Sikorski's "ideal CV" as a foreign minister, former defence minister and former wartime correspondent.

More fine-grained results give a more nuanced picture:

Sikorski was more granted more credibility than Trzaskowski among those aged 35-49, as well as among those with higher education, better earners and those living in cities.
