“The President and the First Lady will attend commemorative ceremonies and visit memorial sites in Warsaw on September 1, 2019, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the beginning of World War II,” the statement said.
It added that the US presidential couple “also accepted an invitation to visit Her Majesty Margrethe II, Queen of Denmark, where the President will participate in a series of bilateral meetings and meet with business leaders.”
The visits “will highlight the historic ties between the United States, Poland, and Denmark, as well as our willingness to confront the region’s many shared security challenges,” according to the White House press secretary.
The White House statement comes after Trump on Tuesday told reporters that he would visit Poland responding to an invitation from Warsaw.
Wojciech Kolarski, an adviser to Polish President Andrzej Duda, said earlier that day that Trump would arrive in Warsaw on August 31 and stay until September 2.
Trump’s trip to Poland will mark his second visit to the country as president.
He previously traveled to Warsaw in July 2017.
Trump last month hosted Poland's Duda at the White House, a meeting during which the two presidents approved plans for a stepped-up American military presence in Poland.
