Mateusz Morawiecki will meet with Emmanuel Macron at the French head of state’s Élysée Palace in Paris, news outlets reported.
Support for Ukraine
Macron’s office said on Thursday that the talks would focus on “support for Ukraine amid the Russian aggression and the consequences of the conflict for the people of Europe,” according to Polish state news agency PAP.
The two leaders are also expected to discuss “defence and security challenges to European sovereignty as well as cooperation to ensure full security of Europe’s eastern flank,” French presidential officials said.
Security, energy, cooperation
Meanwhile, the Polish PM said on Thursday that he would speak with Macron about “security issues, energy issues and cooperation.”
In an interview with the state-run TVP Info news channel, Morawiecki noted that economic issues would be high on the agenda.
He said that the war in Ukraine had “completely destabilised” the European Union, with many of the member economies reeling from the effects of the conflict.
In the Polish PM’s view, the people of France and Germany are among those being adversely affected by “Putinflation.”
Morawiecki said he would also speak with the French president about “boosting Europe’s military capabilities,” the PAP news agency reported.
Friday is day 184 of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
