Polish jobs market to stabilise in coming months: survey

The survey was carried out by ManpowerGroup, an HR consultancy, Polish state news agency PAP reported. 

Titled “The ManpowerGroup Barometer of Employment Prospects,” the report asked employers about their employment plans for the period between October and December of this year. 

24 percent of firms to hire new staff, 24 percent to trim workforce in Q4 2022

24 percent of surveyed firms said they planned to increase their staff in the last quarter of 2022. Meanwhile, another 24 percent said they were looking to cut their workforce in the same period. 

Almost a half of surveyed companies, 48 percent, said they planned to keep the number of employees unchanged, while the remaining four percent said they didn’t have a precise employment plan for the coming three months. 

‘Stabilisation of the labour market’

ManpowerGroup’s Director General for Poland, Tomasz Walenczak, said that “the next three months will see a stabilisation of the labour market and a cooling of the companies’ recruitment sentiments.”

He noted that the current quarter has been characterised by “a very low level of unemployment” and “a biggest-ever shortage of talent.”

In Walenczak’s view, in the last quarter of the year “we can be certain that companies will show considerable restraint when it comes to deciding on big workforce increases, but on the other hand they will want to hold on to qualified workers, who are the most difficult to recruit.” 

The biggest staffing needs are reported by companies from the banking and finance sector, as well as the IT, technology, telecommunication, communication and media sector, according to the report, the PAP news agency reported.
