On Tuesday in Malta, the inventor received the award for her technology of printing solar cells on ultra-thin perovskites (a group of minerals with a cubic crystal structure, seen as the future of photovoltaics due to their lighter, more efficient, and cheaper solar cell materials compared to silicon cells).

Olga Malinkiewicz, co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Saule Technologies, was recognized along with her team in the "Small and Medium-sized Enterprises" (SMEs) category.

The Polish scientist invented a method for manufacturing printed solar cells based on perovskites, and Saule Technologies is the first company in the world to begin their production. She outperformed competitors from Finland and France with her "solar energy technology using cost-effective and environmentally friendly perovskite solar cells," as stated in the jury's decision.
