In an interview with Polish state news agency PAP, Gruca said that the Polish charity has “reached strange and difficult places with our aid. In recent years we have reached Venezuela with aid, for many years we were in Afghanistan, and we helped after the tsunami in Japan. We are currently in Yemen and South Sudan”, he added.
Gruca stressed that the biggest challenge for the organization is the war in Ukraine.
“There is no end in sight to this conflict, and the needs are growing incredibly”, he said.
“Millions of Poles saw what humanitarian aid is all about during the war … when the whole society lined up and helped Ukraine and the refugees who found themselves in Poland”, Gruca added.
PAH operates in ten countries on three continents. According to the charity’s data, 339 million people will need humanitarian aid in 2023, with nearly 18 million in Ukraine.
