The prestigious Michelin guide, revered by food enthusiasts worldwide, bestows its coveted stars as the highest accolade for chefs. The recent edition of this year's guide, published on Monday, brought some especially good news to Bottiglieria 1881, a fine dining restaurant in Poland’s southern city of Kraków.

Even sporting its one Michelin star, Bottiglieria 1881 had already garnered numerous positive reviews in previous years. The Michelin experts acknowledged the menu's simplicity, coupled with its innovative approach and culinary artistry in showcasing Polish cuisine. This year, the collective efforts of the restaurant’s chef Przemysław Klima and his team not only secured the retention of their existing Michelin star, but also earned them another. "We are very pleased to announce the first restaurant in Poland with two Michelin stars," the guide's creators wrote in a press release.

This year's edition of the Michelin guide also introduced two new recipients of one Michelin star, with the recognition going to Muga in Poznan and NUTA in the capital city of Warsaw. Additionally, seven other Polish restaurants received the Bib Gourmand distinction, which commends the excellent quality-to-price ratio of their offerings. The group of Bib Gourmand recipients includes Molám in Kraków, Fromażeria and TU.REStAURANT in Poznan, as well as Koneser Grill, Kieliszek na Próżnej, and Le Braci in Warsaw.

The experts from the Michelin guide recommended a total of 49 Polish restaurants in this year's edition. Notably, for the first time, they assessed the gastronomic landscape in Poznan, where an impressive 11 restaurants gained their acknowledgment. "We are continuously monitoring the culinary scene in Kraków and Warsaw, and this year we are delighted to extend our recognition to Poznan as well. The Michelin inspectors were impressed by the vibrant and rapidly evolving restaurant market in this city, where they discovered numerous exceptional establishments worthy of recommendation," Gwendal Poullennec, the International Director of Michelin Guides, said in the Polish edition of the guide.
