As of October 21, Aryna Sabalenka is at the top of the WTA rankings with 9,706 points, just 41 points ahead of Iga Świątek, who has 9,665 points. Coco Gauff follows in third place with 5,963 points.

The last official WTA match Iga Świątek played was on September 5, when she lost in the quarterfinals of the US Open to American Jessica Pegula.

Following this defeat, she withdrew from subsequent tournaments, ended her collaboration with coach Tomasz Wiktorowski, and announced that her new coach is Belgian Wim Fissette.

Her absence from tournaments, including the WTA 1000 event in Beijing, led to a loss of points, resulting in her dropping from the top position in the rankings. This change was confirmed when she lost 120 points, while Aryna Sabalenka only lost 10 points.

Polish players in WTA rankings

The WTA rankings also include other Polish players besides Iga Świątek. Magdalena Fręch is currently ranked 24th, while Magda Linette is in 40th place.

In addition to Świątek and Sabalenka, who secured their spots first, the WTA Finals, starting on November 1 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, will also feature American players Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula, Kazakh Elena Rybakina, Italian Jasmine Paolini, Chinese Qinwen Zheng, and Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejcikova from the Czech Republic.

Hubert Hurkacz drops to 13th in latest ATP rankings

There have also been changes in the ATP rankings among male tennis competitors. Polish athlete Hubert Hurkacz has fallen from 12th to 13th place in the latest rankings.

At the top, Italian Jannik Sinner continues to lead, with nearly 5,000 points ahead of Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz. German Alexander Zverev remains in third place.
